# AIP:Aero > AIP:Aero simplifies the search for official Aeronautical Information Publications (AIPs), approach charts and airport data for private pilots (VFR and IFR) in 62 countries across Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and beyond. Every chart link points to the official national AIP publication; airport pages add decoded METAR/TAF weather, runways, frequencies, sunrise/sunset, customs and border-crossing information. Important notes: - All aeronautical data is linked from the official national AIP sources, not republished. Always check the official publication before flight. - Airport detail pages follow the pattern `https://aip.aero///?` (for example https://aip.aero/de/vfr/?EDDF), where `` is one of vfr, ifr, heliports, military or aeroports depending on the country. - They return the site's own source-stamped data - raw METAR/TAF and NOTAM text verbatim, all times UTC, the current AIRAC edition - plus the canonical aip.aero detail-page link, so an answer can cite the page instead of guessing. No tool changes anything, and none needs an account or key. - `search_airports(query, country?)`: find aerodromes by name or ICAO code, with their detail-page URLs - `get_airport(icao)`: coordinates, longest-runway hint and detail link of one aerodrome - `nearby_airports(lat, lon, radiusKm?)`: aerodromes around a position, across borders - `get_weather(icao)`: current METAR and TAF - `get_notams(icao)`: current NOTAMs, raw ICAO text verbatim - `list_saved_airports()` / `list_recent_airports()`: the visitor's offline-saved and recently viewed fields (stored in their own browser only) - `open_airport(slug, country, type, section?)`: the detail-page URL; `section` (notams, briefing, faq, facts) appends the in-page anchor of that box - `prepare_briefing(dep, dest?, altn?, tasKt?)`: the departure's detail-page link that opens its briefing panel with the route already filled in (nav log, route map, winds aloft, terrain/airspace profile, PDF briefing by e-mail); it never sends anything - the pilot reviews and requests the briefing on the page - `list_pages()` / `open_page(page)`: the current country's overview pages (airport list, fuel prices, fly-in restaurants, landing fees, border crossing, VFR-weather reliability), where available All ICAO inputs are 4-letter ICAO location indicators (case-insensitive, e.g. `EDNY`), never aerodrome names; a malformed code is answered with an explicit `error` (HTTP 400 on the endpoints below), never with an empty result - resolve a name with `search_airports` first.
